Obstetrics Prenatal Care Monmouth County NJ
What is Obstetrics & Prenatal Care?

Obstetrics is a focus on the care and treatment of women before and during their pregnancy, at childbirth, and following childbirth. Obstetrics treats pregnant women, unborn babies, and the management of childbirth. Obstetricians are doctors who specialize in providing prenatal care, oversee labor and delivery (including natural birth as well as surgical childbirth and Cesarean Section), and provide postpartum care. Their primary goal is to ensure the health and safety of both mother and baby throughout the pregnancy and childbirth process.
Prenatal Care refers to the healthcare services and support provided to expectant mothers during pregnancy. Prenatal care involves regular check-ups, screenings, and counseling aimed at monitoring the health and development of the mother and baby, identifying any potential complications, and promoting a healthy pregnancy.
Obstetrical Services include:
- Preconception counseling, including initial fertility workups and ovulation induction if needed
- Ultrasound
- Prenatal genetic screening
- Non-stress testing
- Perinatal care and support
- Delivery (Vaginal, Cesarean, VBAC and Twin births)
- Post-partum care
Prenatal Care typically includes:
- Prenatal Visits: Regular prenatal visits are scheduled throughout pregnancy to monitor maternal and fetal health, track fetal growth and development, and address any questions or concerns. These visits include physical examinations, laboratory tests, ultrasound screenings, and discussions about prenatal care, childbirth preparation, and postpartum planning.
- Ultrasound Services: Our state-of-the-art ultrasound services provide detailed images of the fetus, allowing for visualization of fetal anatomy, growth, and well-being. Ultrasound screenings are also performed at various stages of pregnancy to assess fetal development, screen for genetic abnormalities, and monitor high-risk pregnancies, by our local well respected Maternal Fetal Medicine Specialists.
- High-Risk Pregnancy Management: Dr. Mayur Patel specializes in the management of high-risk pregnancies and their delivery, including pregnancies complicated by maternal medical conditions, fetal abnormalities, multiple gestations (twins, triplets), and other factors that may require specialized care and monitoring. These are co-managed with our local, well-known Maternal Fetal Medicine Specialists.
- Labor and Delivery Care: We offer comprehensive labor and delivery services, providing support and guidance to mothers throughout the childbirth process. Our team is committed to ensuring a safe and positive childbirth experience, offering pain management options, labor support, and personalized care based on each mother’s preferences and birth plan.
