Dr. Alok Sharan Orthopedic Spine Surgeon Matawan NJ

Dr. Alok Sharan, Director of Spine and Orthopedics at NJ Spine and Wellness, is a world renowned Orthopedic Spine Surgeon with a focus on minimally invasive spine surgery. As the originator of the Awake Spinal Fusion procedure, Dr. Sharan’s unique and advanced approach to spine surgery allows patients to have dramatically improved outcomes.

Awake Spine Surgery is an enhanced recovery protocol that allows patients to recover faster and mobilize quickly after spine surgery, with overall less pain. It is a minimally invasive procedure involving a small incision (approximately one to two inches) in the skin. In this procedure, Dr. Sharan substitutes the use of general anesthesia with local anesthesia, allowing patients to get better faster sooner with significantly fewer negative side effects of surgery. In most cases, patients have recovered sufficiently to return home a few hours after the procedure.

I wish I could leave Dr. Sharan a 10 star rating.
Two days ago I had a laminectomy , the moment the epidural wore off I was able to walk without any leg pain, numbness, tingling or back pain. With this being said knowing that the only discomfort are the stitches I can bear the pain knowing it will dissipate in days to come. Dr. Sharan ur a miracle worker. So much thanks to your surgical team, from nurses to anesthesiologists at Clara Maas Hospital . Many many thanks to your Matawan staff, Bill, Jamie., Ashley EVERYONE ! Thank you, thank you, thank you for making me walk again.

I had a minimally invasive surgery in January of 2015. It proved just miraculous how it solved the issue that I was enduring.
